Finding Interviews

The next stage of my documentary has been to find interviews- in particular one or two case studies of parents who bring their children up gender neutral. This will be the main focus of my documentary so is essential I find suitable people to interview.
Initially I struggled as to who I would contact as I couldn't find any dedicated organisations or groups to gender neutral parenting in the UK. I want at least one of my case studies to be based in the UK so I can go and interview them in person, as I think it would help to tell their story better as opposed to a telephone interview. I then put out a tweet on my personal twitter page under #journorequest asking to speak to parents that are bringing their children up gender neutral.
I got a great response to the tweet and was put in contact with father of two, Alex Mees. I had an initial phone call with Alex over the phone and found out that him and his wife bring up their 4-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter up with gender neutral principles. It sounded like this was a topic he is really passionate about so I thought would be great as the main case study in my radio documentary. They are based in London so I arranged a date to go and interview him.
The next stage will be to prepare for my interview with Alex and think of the questions that are going to form the narrative of my documentary. I also want a range of perspectives about gender neutral parenting so I want to try and find another case study.
As well as that I want to get in contact with a psychologist to find out:
- if gender neutral parenting is beneficial to the mental well being of children?
- if the typical traits of masculinity and femininity come from parenting or if we are born with them?
